1,250kg opium, 900kg hashish recovered in Kandahar

AT-KABUL: Police recovered 1,250 kilograms of opium and 900 kilograms of hashish in a special operation in southern Kandahar province.

A press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that police conducted operation Shah Walikot district of the province.

The statement said that the ministry is committed to fight against production and trafficking of drugs.

The MoI in a separate statement said that at least 12 militants have been killed in military offensives launched by security forces across the country.

It added that police in cooperation of national army and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted clearance operations against militants in Kunar, Nangarhar, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Jawzjan, Kandahar, Zabul and Paktia provinces.

Security forces killed At least 12 militants, wounded 11and arrested 17 others, the statement said.

Afghan security forces frequently conducted military operations against insurgents in militancy-infested areas.
