130 insurgents killed in raids: MoD

AT-KABUL: One hundred thirty Taliban fighters were killed and 76 others wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, said officials.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) has carried out joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Uruzgan, Helmand, Ghazni, Kunar, Maidan Wardak, Baghlan, Zabul, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Kandahar, and Kapisa provinces. In these operations, 130 rebels including seven commanders were killed and 76 others sustained bullet injuries.

Security forces also nabbed two insurgents who were handed over to the relevant judicial body for interrogation.

According to the media statement of the ministry, 10 soldiers were killed during the operations. The ministry also claimed of recovering huge cache of ammunition during the crackdowns against anti-state elements.
