140 insurgents killed in Nangarhar

AT-KABUL: According to security officials, at least 140 rebels were killed and more than 50 wounded as a result of joint and special operations carried out in eastern Nangarhar province during last month.

During the period, 132 individuals were arrested in connection with different crimes, Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi, the provincial police chief said.

While addressing a press conference, he disclosed that 18 clearing and airstrikes offensives were conducted against militants in Nangarhar last month.

He added security forces also took control over 19 different types of weapons, 23 vehicles and an arms cache during the mentioned period.

Moreover, around 10 insurgents have been entered into the peace process as a result of efforts made by security organs and detected 65 different criminal incidents.

He assured that security forces are committed and fully prepared to protect each inch of the country, and urged people to cooperate with security forces in maintaining security.
