AT-KABUL: At least 148 Taliban militants have been killed in a large-scale operations launched by Afghan security forces in eastern Nangarhar province around 20 days ago, said an official source.
The Commander of 201st Selab Military Corps Muhammad Zaman Waziri and Police of Chief of Nangarhar province Fazel Ahmad Sherzad told a joint press conference here on Saturday that security forces started the joint military offensives around 20 days ago in Khogyani, Sherzad and Hesarak districts of the province. They said that Afghan security forces have killed 148 Taliban militants and wounded 110 others since beginning of the operations. “Security forces have also detained 64 suspected militants. At least 28 of the arrested persons were handed over to judicial organizations for further investigations and remaining 36 people were released,” they added.
They said that security forces have also recovered a number of weapons, ammunitions and vehicles during the operations.
