AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Tuesday that 15 Taliban terrorists were arrested in the southern province of Kandahar.
In a press statement, the intelligence agency said that the arrested people were involved in different activities in army uniforms including sabotage, terrorizing of religious scholars, tribal leaders, government officials, ambushes and attacks on security checkpoints.
“During primary investigation, the terrorists confessed that they assassinated at least seven government officials as they disguised in army uniforms and using fake identity cards,” the statement said.
It added that the intelligence forces discovered three Kalashnikov machineguns, five motorbikes and some ammunition.
“They were tasked by a senior Taliban commander Mohammadullah also known as Loi lala to conduct different terrorist activities in the province,” the statement noted.
Kandahar is among the insecure provinces despite the province was the birthplace of the Taliban group.
The security situation has improved by a large extent during the recent months despite the neighboring provinces, specifically the southern Helmand witness violence on regular basis.
