17 drug traffickers sent to prison
AT-KABUL: Some 17 convicted drug traffickers have been sentenced to short and long term in prison over the past week, said the court of criminal justice task force on Tuesday.
CJTF in a press statement said the primary and appeal court of CJTF have convicted 17 smugglers to two and half years -five years prison.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized over 654kg heroin, 20kg opium, over 534kg hashish and 600 liters of chemical from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, added statement.
On the other hand 13 drug runners were apprehended by CNP through different crackdown in various provinces and were handed over to CJTF for criminal proceedings.
Two women also were arrested among the drug runners, added statement.
Statement said that the investigation is going on over the dossier of the all indicts by the CJTF, which after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF will convict the accused traffickers, added statement.
These drug dealers were arrested from Kabul, Nangarhar and Herat provinces during operations, mentioned statement.
Some 38kg heroin, 140kg hashish, 16 kg crystal and 638 liters of alcoholic beverages discovered and seized from the arrested smugglers, noted the statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
