AT News Report-KABUL: At least 18 militants have been killed and 10 others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Thursday.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Kapisa, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Urzgan, Zabul, Herat, Faryab, Balkh, Takhar, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 18 insurgents were killed and 10 others wounded.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations, 10 Taliban fighters were killed and seven other wounded in Chesht-e-Sharif district of Herat–four insurgents were killed and three others wounded in Maiwand district of Kandahar–two militants were killed in Chora district of Urzgan province.
Similarly, two insurgents were killed in an explosion in Do Rahi area of Shirkhan border in Kunduz.
In the past 24 hours, 16 planed clearing operations, and 68 Special Forces operations conducted in 11 provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 34 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries. ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
