2 killed in Laghman blast

AT-KABUL: Two people including a policeman were killed when an explosive device went off in Laghman province.

According to local sources, the bomb was planted in Islamabad Bazaar area of Alishang district, and targeted a police vehicle. The incident took place the other day.

Spokesman to the provincial governor, Sarhadi Zwak, confirmed the casualties. He said that two persons including a cop lost their lives and another civilian was injured in the blast.

The Taliban insurgents have considerable presence in the eastern province. The militant group regularly targets security forces and government installations. Sometimes civilians including teachers and health workers are threatened, but the incidents yet to be covered by mainstream media.

No group has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast, however, almost all attacks of such nature are carried out by the Taliban to show their presence and threaten the government.
