AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: As many as 216 alleged criminals have been arrested in eastern Nangarhar province in past 11 months, said official on Sunday.
Nangarhar police chief told a news conference in Jalalabad that they have documented 167 criminal incidents in which 216 alleged criminals have been arrested in past 11 months.
He said the arrested individuals were handed over to judiciaries for further investigation.
He added that around 3,118 kilograms of different types of drugs, 855 liters of wine and 2,455 liters of chemicals used in heroin were also recovered by the security forces during the period. “At least 1,221 hectares of agricultural land was cleared of poppy by the security forces,” he added.
He said that 39 different types of weapons, ammunition and 65 vehicles were recovered during the past 11 months. “Nearly 190 drug addicts were arrested in several parts of Nangarhar and were handed over to drug addicts’ treatment centers.
According to reports, in some of Nangarhar’s bordering areas like Khogyani district, there is still resistance to Afghan National Security Forces and heroin factories.
Reports indicate that the heroin produced in these factories are either used inside Afghanistan or smuggled abroad.
