22 militants killed in Sar-i-Pul

AT-KABUL: As many as 22 Taliban militants have been killed and nearly 30 others injured in an operation by security forces in northern Sar-i-Pul province, said official sources on Tuesday.

Provincial Police Chief, Abdul Qayum Baqizai, said that 22 militants were killed and 30 others injured in an operation that was launched five days ago in villages in the province.

He said some residents of Sar-i-Pul who backed the security forces were killed and two policemen were injured during the operation.

He said that Sartakhta area which was under the control of the Taliban nearly for a year was also retaken.
