24 killed, 42 injured in Taliban car bombing in Kabul

AT-KABUL: At least 24 people were “martyred” and 42 others, nearly all of them civilians, were injured Monday morning after a Taliban suicide car bomber targeted civilians in west of Kabul city, officials told Afghanistan Times.

The bomber used a corolla, full of explosives, to carry out the attack in Police District 3, west of Kabul city on a main road, near to a private education center and the house of the 2nd Deputy of the CEO, Mohammad Mohaqiq.

Interior Ministry, spokesman, Najib Danish, confirmed that 24 people, all civilians, “martyred” and 42 others injured in today’s attack that happened around 7:00am, when people were leaving homes toward their jobs.

Three vehicles and 15 shops and including a wedding hall were partially destroyed in the bombing.

Health officials said 18 death bodies and 17 injured were taken to hospitals in Kabul and staff were working to provide medical care to those admitted in hospitals from the attack.

Taliban claimed the bomber in the city was their fighter.
