27 drug traffickers sent behind bars

KABUL: At least 27 drug runners pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and were sentenced to jail for year in the past one week.

Courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) in a statement said that 27 drug traffickers sentenced to short and prolong incarceration after examining their dossiers by Primary and Appeal Court of CJTF.   

Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized 33kg heroin, over 33kg morphine,2222kg hashish, 16kg crystal, 600kg chemical and 920g Tablets of K from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement added.

At the same period, CNP arrested 30 suspected drug traffickers during operation in different provinces.

Out of 30 drug traffickers, eight of them were those smugglers, who planned to smuggle drug through Hamid Karzai international airport to India, who were identified and arrested.

According to statement after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF courts convicted the accused traffickers to imprisonment.

All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
