KABUL: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday has marked “World Hepatitis Day,”, in which it said that 29,000 people are with hepatitis B and C.
According to a statement, the MoPH with the motto “to invest for hepatitis elimination” marked the hepatitis day in Kabul on Sunday.
Minister of Public Health, Ferozudin Feroz said that marking of the hepatitis day is aimed to boost up awareness among people about this virus and hold preventable programs in the aspect.
He said that till now this disease is not a serious challenge in the country and efforts are underway to limit its spreading among people.
In order to prevent spreading of this disease, MoPH paved the ground of diagnostic of hepatitis B and C in all health centers through the country and all children under 2-years will covered through vaccination program against hepatitis B in all health clinic, he added.
Minister said that MoPH has covered 1.6 million people through diagnostic programs, where out of 22000 people found with hepatitis B and 9000 with hepatitis c across the country.
Hepatitis virus is the 7th reason for mortality of people in the world and hepatitis B and C take lives of 1.5 million people and over 30 million people are infected to hepatitis B and C in the world.
