30 Taliban rebels killed in latest crackdowns

KABUL: The Afghan security forces have killed at least 30 Taliban insurgents in retaliation to their attacks on their checkpoints in three provinces, security officials said on Wednesday.

In addition to that, 12 others Taliban rebels were also wounded in these attacks.

Taliban fighters coordinately assaulted security forces checkpoints in Nakam area of Andar district and Kaj Qala, Shakhwak are of central Ghazni province that were pushed back by Afghan security forces, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.

14 Taliban rebels were killed and three others wounded during the incident, the ministry added.

In a separate incident, nine Taliban rebels were killed by security forces in response to their attack in Gomal district of Paktia. “Some weapons and ammunitions of the enemy were seized by Afghan forces in the area as well.”

On the other hand, seven Taliban rebels were killed in northern Jawzjan province, defense ministry said.

Taliban rebels attacked the Afghan security forces outposts in Khomab and Qarqeen district, in which seven insurgents were killed and nine other wounded, defense ministry said in a statement.
