3,000-tonne Uzbekistan wheat aid reaches Hairatan port

AT-KABUL: A 3000-tonnes wheat consignment contributed by Uzbekistan governmentreached the port of Hairatan on Tuesday via railway as part of Tashkent’s humanitarian aid.

Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock said the donation was delivered to Afghan officials by Esmatullah Ergashov, Special Envoy of the Uzbekistan President in Hairatan.

Ergashovwhile handing over the wheat said that his county exerts utmost efforts to make closer relation with Afghanistan.

He said that beside humanitarian aid, Uzbekistan has declined its exported electricity cost to Afghanistan.

Minister of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock Nasir Ahmad Durani while welcoming the Uzbekistan wheat donation said that “the donated three thousand tons wheat will be distributed among drought and flood affected families in Northern provinces.”

He said that arrived wheat is very helpful for drought and flood affected families in Northern provinces.

The wheat will be distributed justly to the needed people, he insisted.

Likewise Balkh Governor IshaqRahguzar while appreciating Uzbekistan for the donation said that this wheat donation was very helpful and on time to the northern people.

The wheat will be distributed to needy and affected people in Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Samangan and Faryab provinces.
