31 militants killed in fresh military ops

KABUL: At least 31 militants were killed and two others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Monday.

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Helmand, Logar, Kandahar, Faryab, Jawzjan provinces, in which 31 militants were killed and two others wounded.

Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations, eight Daesh fighters were killed and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Achin, Deh Bala and Khogyani districts of Nangarhar – six insurgents affiliated with Haqqani terrorists’ network were killed, one vehicle and one motorbike destroyed in Zarmat district of Paktia – five militants killed in Mata Khan district and Sha-Rana capital of Paktika – three rebels killed and two motorbikes destroyed in Marja district of Helmand and three insurgents were killed in Baraki Barak district of Logar province.

Similarly, two insurgents were killed, one bunker and two barrels of explosives destroyed in Khakrez district of Kandahar – two militants killed, two wounded and one hideout was destroyed in Gurziwan district of Faryab and two Taliban fighters were killed and one round of IED was discovered and defused in Darzab district of Jawzajn province.

In past 24 hours, 19 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conductedaerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 26 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
