370 drug traffickers sent behind bars
AT-KABUL: Courts of the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Tuesday said they have sentenced over 370 drug traffickers to short and long prison terms over the past three months.
The Task Force in a press statement said its primary court has convicted 228 drug delivers including nine public servants, 14 women and a foreign citizen to one-20 years.
Statement said that at the same time appeal court of CJTF also has convicted 144 smugglers including four public servants, two women and a foreign citizen to short and prolong imprisonment.
On the other hand 217 drug runners were apprehended by CNP through different crackdown in various provinces and were handed over to CJTF for criminal proceedings in the past three months as well.
Statement said that the investigation is going on over the dossier of the all indicts by the CJTF, which after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF will convict the accused traffickers, added statement.
Some 380,198kg heroin, 898,043kg opium, 2806kg hashish, 49kg crystal, 5628 liters of alcoholic beverages and 995 tablets of K discovered and seized in connection to the aforementioned cases, noted the statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
