AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least five army soldiers were killed and several others wounded when a swarm of militants stormed several checkpoints of Afghan security forces in Jurm district of northern Badakhshan province, said a local official.
The Chairman of Badakhshan provincial council, Abdullah Naji, said that the militants attacked the checkpoints the other night and the fighting is still going on. He added that the militants have killed four army troops and injured nine others. “The insurgents have surrounded a number of other troops in the security check posts,” he went on as saying.
Naji said that several army soldiers are missing and the militants have seized some vehicles of the Afghan army.
However, security officials in the province said that only one soldier has been killed and several others wounded.
