Crime branch chief among four killed, 41 injured in Paghman blast

AT-KABUL: At least four people, including the chief of district police crime branch, were killed and 41 injured in a suicide car bomb attack in Paghman district of Kabul on Wednesday morning.

The Kabul police spokesman Ebadullah Karimi said that a suicide bomber rammed an explosive filled vehicle into the district administration compound at around 11:00 am, killing four including two policemen and injuring 41 others.

He confirmed that the crime branch chief of Paghman district is among the killed people. The spokesman said that most of the injured people are civilians, including seven women and four children.

“The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment. Investigation is underway to bring the culprits to the court of justice,” he said.

Paghman district is a popular tourist spot, particularly for residents of Kabul. It is around 20km far from the capital city and situated at the west of Kabul.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The militant group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Taliban targeted the commandant of Paghman district.
