AT-KABUL: Forty three Taliban fighters were killed and 15 others wounded in different crackdowns within the past 24 hours, said officials.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) had conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Balkh, Herat, Farah, Jawzjan, Faryab, Baghlan, Kunduz, Nuristan, Takhar and Helmand provinces. In these operations 43 rebels including six foreigners were killed and 15 others were injured.
Thirteen insurgents were arrested and handed over to the relevant judicial body for interrogation, added the statement
“Unfortunately, seven ANA soldiers were killed in the operation as result of enemy firing,” said the statement.
The national army also discovered and seized weapons and ammunition in the operations.
