AT-KABUL: At least 45 Taliban insurgents were killed in different clearance operations launched by the security forces within the past 24 hours across the county, security officials said on Wednesday.
The operations were conducted by the national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security operatives in different areas of Helmand, Badakhshan, Kabul, Nangarhar and Balkh provinces, the interior ministry said in a statement.
“In these operations, 45 Taliban insurgents were killed,” said the statement.
“Police also discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds of ammunition during the operations.”
Separately, the statement said the Taliban militants suffered heavy casualties during operation conducted in northern Balkh province.
Balkh is among the relatively peaceful provinces in northern region, but the Taliban insurgents have recently been trying to destabilize the province.
Different operations have been launched by the acting governor Atta Mohammad Noor in some remote districts of the province to suppress the insurgents’ activities.
