50 Lives Lost in 102 Traffic Incidents During Eid in Afghanistan


Kabul: The General Traffic Department has reported that during both day and night of Eid, 102 traffic incidents took place across various regions of Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of 50 lives.

In its newsletter released on Monday, April 15th, the department disclosed that over the four-day Eid ul-Fitr holiday period, the country witnessed 50 fatalities in 102 traffic incidents, with an additional 185 individuals sustaining injuries.

According to the statement from the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan, the casualties during Eid included 25 men, 8 women, and 13 children.

Furthermore, out of the 185 individuals injured during Eid traffic incidents, 118 were men, 34 were women, and 33 were children.

The department highlighted that failure to comply with traffic regulations, speeding, poor visibility, and underage driving were significant contributors to the surge in traffic incidents, based on their investigations.

According to data from the Traffic Department, Herat recorded 19 incidents, followed by Ghazni with 11 incidents, and Paktia with 10 incidents, ranking as the provinces with the highest number of traffic incidents in the country.
