58 insurgents killed in raids: MoD

AT-KABUL: At least fifty-eight Taliban insurgents were killed and 28 others wounded in different crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces within past 24 hours, security officials said on Monday.

In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives have conducted a joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, Logar, Zabul, Badghis, Samangan, Jawzjan, Takhar, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.

“In which 58 rebels including one Taliban local commander were killed and 28 others received injuries,” the statement said.

Furthermore, the statement said that ANA arrested ten insurgents, handing them to the judicial organs for further inquiry. “Weapons and ammunition were also discovered and confiscated in the raids. “Unfortunately, four ANA soldier were also killed in fight against insurgents, the statement lamented.
