63 militants killed in latest ops

KABUL: At least 63 militants were killed and 19 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Monday.

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Kunduz, Faryab, Helmand, Paktia, Balkh, Zabul and Urozgan provinces, in which 63 militants were killed and 19 others wounded.

Afghan forces arrested two militants and handed them over to judicial organs for further inquiry.

Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During operations in the past 24 hours, 11 militants were killed and two others wounded in Dahana Ghori and Naharin districts of Baghlan – 11 insurgents killed and some amount of weapons and munitions destroyed in Maiwand district of Kandahar – nine Taliban fighters killed, eight wounded, one detained, one RPG (rocket), one hideout, three depots of weapons and munitions destroyed and 20 rounds of IEDs discovered and defused in Khan Abad district of Kunduz – six rebels killed in Pashtun Kut in district of Faryab – five insurgents killed and two vehicles of the enemy destroyed in Nahar Saraj district and Lashkargah capital city of Helmand four militants were killed, three wounded and one arrested in Zarmat and Sayed Karam districts of Paktia province.

Similarly, Taliban fighters were killed and three others wounded in Balkh district of Balkh – two insurgents killed and two others wounded in Mizan district of Zabul and one rebels was killed and another wounded in Gomaryain area, province capital of Urozgan province.

In past 24 hours, 24 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 61 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
