AT-KABUL: Sixty-four Taliban fighters were killed and 50 others wounded in different crackdowns in the past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.
In a press release, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) with the collaboration of the Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS), conducted some operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktia, Wardak, Khost, Kunar, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Parwan, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Badghis, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Farah, Nimroz, Baghlan, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
In these operations, 64 rebels were killed and 50 others were injured, the statement said.
Seven insurgents were arrested and handed over to judicial system for further inquiry, added the statement
“Unfortunately, six army soldiers were martyred during the operations by the enemy’s firing,” said the statement.
The national army had also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well, the statement mentioned.
