71 killed in military crackdowns
By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: At least 71 militants were killed and 25 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns within the past 24 hours.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Helmand, Kunar, Nimroz, Faryab, Ghazni, Baghlan, Logar, Herat, Badakhshan, Urzgan, Sar-e-Pul and Kandahar provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 71 insurgents were killed and 25 others wounded.
Afghan forces arrested eight suspects during clampdowns and handover them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 17 militants were killed and seven suspects arrested in Khakriz district of Kandahar, 10 insurgents were killed and four wounded in Alingar district of Laghman, eight rebels were killed and eight others wounded in Abkamari district of Badghis, six insurgents were killed and one suspect arrested in Shirzad district of Nangarhar, three Taliban fighters were killed and one wounded in Andar district of Ghazni, five insurgents killed and one wounded in Badakshan and Zabul provinces.
Similarly, during airstrike, nine Taliban fighters were killed and six others wounded in Andar district of Ghazni, six Daesh fighters were killed and two narcotics factory destroyed in Pachiragam and Khogianai district of Nangarhar, four Taliban fighters were killed, three wounded and a stronghold of the enemy destroyed in Kohistan district of Faryab, three militants were killed and two others wounded in Urzgan and Helmand provinces.
In past 24 hours, 18 planed clearance operations, and 102 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air force conducted 145 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifices to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
