AT-KABUL: Criminal Justice Task Forces (CJTF) on Tuesday said that 729 people were arrested on charges of drugs trafficking. General Prosecution Director for CJTF, Yar Mohammad Husainkhil told newsmen that 712 drugs-related cases had been registered and where 729 smugglers were nabbed.
He also said that 18 public workers including police and some other governmental staffs as well as three foreign citizens were among arrested people. “20 female smugglers were also arrested,” he said. He pointed out that out of 712 cases 633 were prosecuted.
He stated that over 1.5 tons of heroins, 0.5 tons morphine, 6.5 tons opium, 1.5 tons hashish, over 3.5 tons precursors and 24,000 alcoholic beverages were also seized.
He also went on saying that some 114 vehicle were nabbed from smugglers.
He insisted that CJTF prosecuted all the cases transparently and is committed to convict verdict on drug runners by considering law.
