79 rebels killed in military raids
AT-KABUL: More than 79Taliban insurgents have been killed and40more sustained critical injuries in extensive government military operations in the past days, said government officials Sunday.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Logar, Badghis, Ghor, Balkh, faryab, Baghlan, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations79insurgents including 19 Daesh fighters and two local commander of Taliban were killed and 40others wounded. Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 32 Taliban fighters were killed, 33 wounded and one stronghold with some weapons destroyed in Ajristan, Deh Yak and Andar district of Ghazni, 19 Daesh affiliates along with two commanders named QariIsrar and Mullah Asghar were killed in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar, 10 insurgents were killed and six others wounded in Nadali district of Helmand, eight rebels were killed and one wounded in Dai Chopan district of Zabul provinces.
Similar, five militants were killed in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar, two Taliban local commander named Qari Qaiom and Mawlawi Gulistan were killed in Shirin Tagab district of Faryab, two insurgents were killed in Sayed Karam district of Paktia and one militant was killed in Awba district of Herat province.
In past 24 hours, 11planed clearing operations, and 82 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 128 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including nine strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well. ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
