80 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 80 militants have been killed and 31 others received injures in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.

In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Herat, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 80 insurgents killed and 31 others wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security Forces shelled and bombed enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During operations, 32 insurgents killed and 19 others wounded in Muqor district and Shahbaz area of Ghazni–25 militants killed and five vehicle belonged to the enemy destroyed in Jalirz district of Miadan Wardak–11 rebels killed, 10 wounded and three stronghold belonged to the enemy destroyed in Emam Sahib and Dasht-e-Archi districts of Kunduz province.

Similary, six insurgents killed, one wounded and three motorbike destroyed in Khwaja Sabzposh district of Faryab–five militants killed in Shahr-e-Kona area of Herat–one rebels killed and three others wounded in Zurmat and Janikhil districts of Paktia province.

Furthermore, nine planed clearing operations, and one Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 96 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 22 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations, the statement added.
