87 new infections recorded in last 24 hours

KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 87 new positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 40,287 throughout the country.

The Ministry of Public Health said Monday that these cases came positive from 523 suspected samples tested during this period. 25 new cases were recorded in Herat, 17 in Daykundi, 14 in Bamyan, 11 in Kabul, 11 in Ghazni, three in Parwan, three in Badghis, and one case each in Nangarhar, Nimroz and Maidan Wardak provinces.

Unfortunately, five patients have lost their lives battling the virus and 146 others had fully recovered during this period, according to the health ministry.

The total recoveries exceeded to 33,760 and the deaths reached to 1,497 in the country.
