89 insurgents killed in raids
AT-KABUL: At least 89 militants have been killed and 60 others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Monday.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kapisa, Ghazni, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Urzgan, Zabul, Farah, Faryab, Balkh, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 89 insurgents were killed and 60 others wounded.
The security forces also arrested four insurgents during operations, handing them over judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 34 Taliban fighters killed, 11 wounded and some weapons belonged to the enemy destroyed in Chahar Dara district of Kunduz–18 militants killed and 22 other injured in Khwaja Sabzposh district of Faryab–nine insurgents killed and 17 others wounded in Shibkoh district of Farah–nine rebels killed in Alishir district of Khost–eight militants killed and five others wounded in Trinkot center of Urzgan province
Similarly, four militants were killed and four others wounded in Shortepa district of Balkh, three rebels killed in Andar district of Ghazni, one insurgents killed and four others wounded in Shah Joi district and center of Zabul–one militants killed another wounded in Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak province.
Afghan forces also gunned down two suicide bombers, who planned to target 7th border battalion in Ghani Khil district of Nangarhar province.
In past 24 hours, 13 planed clearing operations, and 96 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 125 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 13 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
