91 militants killed in fresh raids

KABUL: At least 91 militants were killed and 32 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Wednesday.

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas Zabul, Uruzgan, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Helmand, Paktia, Farah and Paktika provinces, in which 91 militants were killed and 32 others wounded.

Afghan forces arrested 11 militants and handed them over to the judicial organs for further inquiry.

Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During operations in the past 24 hours, 47 insurgents were killed and 16 others wounded in Naw Bahar and Arghandab district of Zabul – 20 Taliban fighters killed and three others wounded in Guizab district of Uruzgan – 10 militants killed and four others wounded in Khan Abad district of Kunduz – 10 insurgents, including five Daesh fighters were killed and six Daesh hideouts destroyed in Deh Bala and Mohmand Dara districts of Nangarhar and two insurgents were killed, three wounded, seven suspects arrested, amount of weapons and ammunition seized, one vehicle, three motorbikes, 1000 kg explosives, 2000 kg opium and three barrels of powder were destroyed in in Nahar Saraj and Nad Ali districts of Helmand province.

Similarly, one insurgent was killed and five other wounded in in Ziwarak district of Paktia, one rebels was killed, one wounded, two detained and amount of weapons and ammunition confiscated in Balabulok district and capital city of Farah and two suspects were arrested, one vehicle and 45 shotguns seized in Dand-e Patan district of Paktika province.

In past 24 hours, 21 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 17 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
