92 insurgents killed in nationwide raids

AT-KABUL: At least 92 Taliban militants have been killed and 36 others wounded in different crackdowns across the country over the past 48 hours.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) here on Saturday said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Urzgan, Daykondi, Badghis, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Baghlan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Helmand and Kabul provinces. Around 72 rebels have been killed 29 others wounded in the operations, the statement added.

The MoD in the statement said that 12 Afghan army soldiers were also killed during the military offensives.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said that 20 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 other wounded in military offensives conducted in various districts of Baghlan, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Zabul, Oruzgan and Helmand  provinces.

“Three would be militants have been arrested and handed over to judicial organizations for further investigations,” the press statement added.

It said that the ANA and ANA also recovered a huge cache of weapons during the offensives.
