92 Taliban fighters killed in latest military stings

KABUL: At least 95 Taliban insurgents were killed and 48 others were wounded in a series of military operations conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said Saturday.

Backed by the Afghan security forces, the Afghan security forces carried out operations and counterattacks against the Taliban rebels in Laghman, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Sarpul, Balkh, Helmand, Baghlan and Takhar  provinces, in which 92 Taliban insurgents were killed and 48 others wounded, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, another 34 rounds of mines that were planted by the Taliban to target civilians and security forces were discovered and defused.

Huge amount of weapons and ammunition of the enemy were also destroyed, the statement underlined.
