Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: The Speaker of Meshrano Jirga (MJ) Fazal Hadi Muslimyar on Tuesday said that 98 percent of the Islamic State (IS) fighters killed in eastern Nangarhar province were Pakistanis.
“Over 800 militants killed by security forces in Nangarhar were Pakistanis,” he added.
He said that security forces kicked off military operations against militants two days before Eid-ul-Adha and have cleared Kot district of Nangarhar.
It is worth of mentioning that to TOLOnews reported two days ago that at least 100 Taliban insurgents were killed in an Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) operation in eastern Nangarhar province.
Nangarhar police chief, Fazal Ahmad Shierzad said that the operations were launched in the aftermath of a massive attack of the Taliban, backed by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies, on Dur Baba district of the province. “The militants wanted to capture the district, but were eliminated by Afghan forces,” he said, adding that most of the militants killed in the operations were Pakistani nationals.
