Afghan army raids: 3 dozen militants killed in raids

KABUL: At least 36 militants were killed and 18 wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns within past day.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nuristan, Laghman, Ghazni, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Balkh, Helmand, Nimroz and Kabul provinces.

Statement said that in these operations 36 insurgentswere killed and 18 others wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 19 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 others wounded in Abanad district of Ghazni, three militants were killed and five others wounded in Chaharbolak district of Balkh,

Similar, Afghan air forces targeted enemy hideouts, eight rebels were killed and one wounded in Alishing district of Laghman, six insurgents were killed and two others wounded in Qal-e-Zal district of Kunduz province.

In past 24 hours, 11 planed clearing operations, and 100 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
