Afghan forces avenge Badakhshan deaths

KABUL: Four Taliban commanders, who ordered beheading of Afghan soldiers in Juram district of northeastern Badakhshan, had been killed, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on Monday.

In total 27 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed, including eight who were beheaded after being captured, during a massive attack on their posts in Khustak area of Juram district about two weeks ago.

But the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in a statement issued here said that rebel commanders Qari Wasel, Qari Fazlullah, Qari Hussain and Baraktullah involved in the beheading of Afghan soldiers had been killed along with several fighters during clearing operations by security forces.

The operations had been launched to take revenge on the insurgents for beheading the Afghan soldiers.

Weapons and ammunitions were also recovered from the slain militant leaders, the statement concluded. (PAN)
