Afghan forces free 24 people from Daesh captivity

KABUL: Afghan Security Forces have freed 24 people held by Daesh terrorist, also known as Islamic State, in an operation in the eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.

Provincial Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogianai said the operation was conducted in Salozai area of Chaparhar district on early Monday morning, apparently a stronghold of the Daesh terrorist.

The freed captivity belonged to Salozai tribes and they were reunited with their families, he added.

Three fighters loyal to the Daesh extremist were also killed during rescue military operation, the spokesman said, with confirmation of injures to the civilian as well.

He also spoke about a clash that had erupted after the insurgents tried to resist with the Afghan security forces.

It is worth mentioning that Daesh terrorist group are widely active in different districts of the province, where they often take local people hostage.
