Afghan forces kill 38 militants in fresh crackdowns

KABUL: At least 38 militants have been killed and 19 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country within past 24 hours.

Ministry of Defense in a statement on Tuesday said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Khost, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Zabul Herat, Sar-e-Pul, Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan and Helmand provinces that left 38 militants dead while 19 others received injures.

Also the Afghan forces detained four militants during operation and handed them over to judicial organs for further inquiry

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations, 11 militants killed, four arrested and a vehicle of the enemy destroyed in Andar and Rashidan districts of Ghazni—seven Taliban fighters killed and three others wounded in Chamtal district of Balkh—six insurgents killed and two others wounded in Sangeen district of Helmand—four rebels were killed and five others wounded in Mizan district of Zabul—four militants killed and a vehicle full of explosive belonged to the enemy destroyed in Zurmat district of Paktia province.

Similarly, three insurgents killed, eight wounded and two strongholds of the enemy destroyed in Sancharak district of Sar-e-Pul—one militant killed another wounded in Faizabad district of Jawzjan, one Daesh affiliates killed in Khgianai district of Nangarhar and one insurgents was killed in Sayedabad district of Maidan Wardak province, the statement added.   

In past 24 hours, six planed clearing operations, and 75 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 160 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 15 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

The ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition during operations.
