KABUL: The Afghan negotiating team is discussed the unification of the agendas of the intra-Afghan negotiations.
“Afghans want and stress on ceasefire,” said Najia Anwari, a spokeswoman for the ministry on Monday. “Cease fire is one of the important wishes of the Afghans.”
She said that the negotiating teams were on the phase of arrangement the agendas for the talks. “The government stress on ceasefire agreement,” Anwari said adding that they would share the militants’ intention towards ceasefire with the people.
Anwari however denied whether an interim government would be discussed in the negotiations between the two sides.
The second round of the intra-Afghan negotiations was resumed on 5th of January in Qatari capital of Doha after both sides took a three week break to consult with the leaderships, following a breakthrough on the procedures of the negotiations.
But the violence has been on the rise as the government and Taliban escalated their offensives to gain leverage in the ongoing negotiations.
According to some sources, some members of the Taliban negotiating teams, including the chief negotiator, Abdul Hakim Haqqani have not traveled back to Doha from Pakistan, where the insurgent group enjoys safe havens.
