Afghanistan records 2,202 new virus cases, 73 deaths

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 2,202 new cases of coronavirus and 73 deaths across the country in the past 24 hours.

The new cases were tested positive out of 5,499 suspected samples during the same period of time, according to the health ministry’s data.

The total tally since the outbreak of the epidemic has reached 107,957 nationwide.

Another 494 patients have fully recovered and discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours, the ministry added.

The total number of deaths has exceeded 4,366 around the country since the outbreak of the pandemic started over one year ago.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 3,874,365 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 178,827,648.
