AT News

KABUL: Afghanistan recorded 36 new cases of Covid-19 and 5 fatties within the past 24 hours, bringing the total tally to over 54,595.

The new cases were recorded out of 882-suspected samples tested in the country laboratories, the health ministry said in a statement on Saturday.  The cases were recorded in Kabul, Kandahar, Balkh, Paktia, Parwan, Nimruz, Ghazni, Helmand, Khost and Faryab provinces.

In this period, five people have lost their lives to the virus, the ministry said, adding another 31 patients have fully recovered. The total tally of the recoveries surpassed 46,943 while 2,378 others died.

This comes as health officials had earlier warned the citizens about the existence of the virus in the country, saying despite Afghanistan being in a good condition, the virus is still a big threat during harsh winter.
