Afghanistan records 46 new covid-19 cases within 24 hours

KABUL: With 46 new infections in the past 24 hours, now Afghanistan officially has 37,999 coronavirus cases, the Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday.

Out of 281 suspected samples, 46 were reported positive—15 cases were recorded in Herat, 11 in Balkh, five in Farah, three in Takhar, three in Kunduz, three in Badghis, two cases each in Bamyan, Badakhshan and Maidan Wardak provinces, according to the health ministry.

Two patients have lost their lives battling the virus and 221 others recovered during this period of time.

The total recoveries have exceeded 28,211 and the deaths stand to 1,387 since the outbreak of the pandemic started in the country around six months ago.
