Afghanistan sees a slight spike in covid-19 cases with 74 new infections in last 24 hours

KABUL: Afghanistan has recovered 74 new positive coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, a slight increase in new infections in the face of complete nix lockdown. 

With new infections, Afghanistan now has 38,398 confirmed covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the virus started in the country around six months ago.

The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday said that out of 420 suspected samples, 74 were reported positive – 18 cases were recorded in Ghor, 14 in Kabul, 10 in Balkh, six in Badghis, five in Herat, five in Kandahar, five in Nangarhar, four in Sar-e-Pul, two in Panjshir, two in Nuristan and one case each in Kunar, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces.

According to the ministry, 460 covid-19 patients have recovered while three other patients lost their lives to the virus during this period.

The total recoveries exceeded 30,537 and the deaths reached 1,412.
