Afghanistan sees drop in covid-19 cases

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday has recorded 85 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a significant decrease in the respiratory disease that took the lives of over 1,000 patients in Afghanistan.

With 85 new positive cases, the total tally has jumped to 34,451 across the country. 378 suspected samples were tested that 85 were reported positive.

16 patients have lost their lives to the virus and 81 others recovered during this period, the ministry said.

20 positive cases were registered in Bamyan, 18 in Herat, 14 in Kabul, 10 in Takhar, eight in Badakhshan, five in Kandahar, four in Nangarhar, three in Kunduz, one case each in Maidan Wardak, Laghman and Kunar provinces.

The total patients recovered from the virus exceeded 21,216 and the deaths are to 1,010 across the country.
