Afghanistan sees slight rise in infections with 125 new cases

KABUL: 125 new positive cases of coronavirus registered in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours that brought the total tally to 39,044 cases since the spread of the virus started in the country seven months ago.

The ministry of public health said Sunday that these cases came out of 398 suspected samples tested nationwide. 68 cases were recorded in Farah, 20 in Daykundi, nine in Badghis, nine in Nangarhar, seven in Herat, four in Samangan, three in Kunduz and one case each in Kabul, Helmand, Laghman, Kunar and Zabul provinces.

Four patients have lost their lives battling the virus during this period, according to the ministry.

The total recoveries exceeded to 32,576 and the deaths to 1,441 since the first infection found in Herat province.
