Almond yield in Kunduz up by 40pc

KABUL: Almond yields have increased by 40 percent in northern Kunduz province this year, said officials.

According to a statement Acting Head of Provincial Agriculture Department of Kunduz Mohammad Muneer during an agro fair said that almond production mounting by 40 percent in Kunduz province.

He termed supportive program of agriculture department and high attempts of farmersmain factor behind increase of almond in the province.

Following Samangan, Kunduz province stands the second highest producer of almond across the country, he said. Kunduz exports hundreds of tons of almond overseas.

Kunduz almond yields exceeded to 5687 tons this year and last year production was 3412 tons, that show a significant increase, he added.

Agriculture Head of the Province said that his department will exert utmost efforts to boost up quality and quantity of agriculture harvest in Kunduz.

Pointing to aforementioned agriculture exhibition, he said that running of such agro fair aimed at promulgation different kinds of almond in the province.

According to agriculture department 104 kinds of almond produced in Kunduz was exhibited in the agro fair.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Kunduz Hashmatullah Rahimi said that Kunduz was well-known since past year in fields of agriculture production and farmers straggled to protect this position.

He said that farmers struggled to follow agriculture programs and cultivations technical in a modern manner in the province.
