Almost a dozen insurgents killed in offensives

In intensive offensives against militant hideouts across the country, the armed forces have killed as many as 22 militants and wounded 20 over past day, authorities have said.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Logar, Farah, Badakhshan, Ghazni, Kandahar, Balkh and Helmand.

Statement said that in these operations 22 insurgents were killed and 20 others wounded.

Afghan forces also arrested a local commander of Taliban and handed over him to judicial organ for further inquiry.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, five insurgents were killed and seven others wounded in Keran-Menjan district of Badakhshan, four insurgents were killed, three others wounded and some rounds of weapon and ammunition seized in Farah capital, three insurgents were killed and a Taliban commander arrested in Khurwar district of Logar province.

Similar, during airstrike 10 insurgents were killed and 10 wounded in different provinces.

In past 24 hours, 11 planed clearing operations, and 100 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
