KABUL: Anas Haqqani, a senior member of the Haqqani network has expressed hope for an end to the long war in Afghanistan.
Haqqani was released from government detention nearly one month ago in exchange of two professors of American University of Afghanistan and was handed to Taliban.
Haqqani is now at the Taliban’s political office in Qatar.
In an interview, Haqqani has said recently that he was appointed as member of the political office by his seniors and is working on the peace in Afghanistan.
He has said that peace efforts could cause the end of US military presence in Afghanistan.
Haqqani has said that good treatment with the prisoners would also put positive impacts on the peace efforts.
He called on the two parties to have good behavior with the prisoners and observe their human rights.
