KABUL: Afghan security forces raided and bombed suspected Taliban hideouts in volatile areas across Afghanistan on Saturday, killing at least 68 militants and fatally injuring 12.
The defense ministry said in a statement that the army and police forces jointly with the National Directorate of Security launched raids against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Daikundi, Farah, Faryab and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 68 insurgents including six foreign terrorists were killed and 12 others wounded. Afghan forces also arrested 12 suspects during operation and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 37 Taliban fighters including six foreign fighters were killed, seven wounded and nine others including a local commander arrested in Andar, Gilan and Qarabagh districts of Ghazni, 22 militants were killed and six others wounded in Shirin Tagab district of Faryab and six rebels were killed in Zazi Aryob district of Paktia province.
Similar, two militants were killed and three others including two suspects were arrested in Barmal and Sarrawza district of Paktika, one insurgent was killed in Balablok district of Farah and three car bomber and a factory of mine making destroyed in Garmsir and Washir districts of Helmand province.
In past 24 hours, eight planed clearing operations, and 93 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 106 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including eight strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well. ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
